SUMMARY:From Fronds to Flowers: a Native Tour with Gardens
DESCRIPTION:From Fronds to Flowers:  a Native Tour with Gardens – April 23\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin the WSU Extension Master Gardeners of Clark County for an On The Road Tour and leave the driving to us.  We will spend the day exploring the beauty and ecological richness of Southwest Washington through forests\, gardens\, and native plant nurseries. This guided tour highlights how gardeners can support wildlife and local ecosystems using native plants and thoughtful landscape design.  \n \nBegin the day with a guided educational walk along the scenic Moulton Falls Park trail. The wide\, paved path follows the river through a mixed forest of bigleaf maple\, alder\, cedar\, and Douglas fir\, along with forest understory plants dominated by a variety of spectacular ferns.  Along the way\, our guide will identify native plants and discuss their ecological roles\, how they support wildlife\, and how they can be incorporated into home landscapes.\n \nNext\, we will visit NatureScaping’s\, Wildlife Botanical Gardens\, a blend of specialty theme gardens spread across two acres in Brush Prairie. These demonstration gardens highlight practical gardening techniques and include a garden dedicated to native plants.  Their native garden is being redesigned\, and we’ll get to consider how their garden is different or like our own. \n \nLunch at Oak Tree Station in Camas features various food carts and comfortable indoor or outdoor seating. Our last stop is Goodyear Farms\, a Pacific Northwest nursery specializing in plants native to the region. The nursery grows many of its own plants and works closely with other native plant nurseries to offer a wide and interesting selection.  After seeing it in the wild\, planning for it in a landscape garden\, you can buy your favorites or find new ones.  April 23 at 8:30am. Van arrival back to Heritage Farm 4:30pm. Dress for cool or rainy weather.  No pets allowed.  Bathrooms available at every location. Cost: $35 (plus tax\, fees). Register here. For more information: (564) 397-5738 or Erika.d.johnson@wsu.edu. Learn more at  http://extension.wsu.edu/clark/gardening/workshops-events/.
