Mason Bee Workshop and Cocoon Cleaning
November 9 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Chances are that your backyard is home to a wide variety of wild bees, including the mason bee, our gentle friend and incredible pollinator. Join Anne Bulger for an introductory workshop on Mason Bees to discover how you can host these highly beneficial and non-stinging, native bees. The presentation will cover pollination, how to be a successful mason bee host, their life cycle, and yearly timetable. Finally, you will receive a demonstration of how to harvest and clean mason bee cocoons and a hands-on opportunity to do so yourself!
Bring your own cocoons for harvesting and cleaning, if you like.(Bring a bowl, colander, and a lidded container.) Plan to bring a small container with a lid if you are interested in taking some cocoons home with you. You will have a chance to win a mason bee house and accessories! Saturday, November 9th from 10:30am to 12:30pm at the Camas Library. Advanced registration required at https://camaspl.librarycalendar.com/event/mason-bees-your-backyard-2021.
