Donate plants or tools!
Donated garden items and plants are a valuable source of products we sell to raise funds at our plant sale. We are now collecting donations for our 2025 plant sale.
Please DO NOT bring donations to Heritage Farm without a scheduled appointment. If you would like to donate plants or tools, fill out the form to let us know what you want to donate, and a Master Gardener will contact you for more information and arrange to get your donations.
Perennial Plant Donations: The dig team can come to your home to dig donated plants that we can accept, or you can dig plants you want to donate. The dig season is from October to April. We work on Monday or Tuesday mornings, but other arrangements can be made. We do not dig large trees or shrubs or take diseased or invasive plants. The team lead decides what plants we will take and can come preview plants that are offered for donation.
We frequently are offered common perennials that are very prolific. We would rather offer a wide variety of plants to our customers rather than a large amount of any one type of plant. Space is limited! We will take both potted and recently dug plants (in plastic bags). Donations can be brought to the 78th Street Heritage Farm by appointment or arranged to be picked up by the Dig Team.
Houseplant donations, including cuttings, are welcome. The houseplant team lead will determine what donations can be accepted and arrange to receive them.
Pot donations: The Perennial Team will take only black gallon sized nursery pots without logos by appointment. We do not take six-packs, 4 inch size pots, hanging baskets or compartmented trays (the ones that hold multiple pots). We will consider taking nursery trays. No random drop offs at the gate. We currently have plenty of 2 gallon sized pots but could use larger sizes. The team lead will determine appropriate donations if others are offered.
Donations of Garden Tools and supplies will be accepted on scheduled dates or by appointment. The team lead will determine appropriateness of donations. We are looking for the following:
- Garden tools and implements in good working order
- Garden supplies
- Garden art
- Decorative pots
- Canning supplies (no jars)
- Gardening books (no magazines)
